Grant Opportunities

1. 2024 Homeowner Grant – Deadline extended to Nov. 15! Apply at buncombecounty.org/homeownergrant or call (828) 250-5500 (support available in any language).

2. Hazard Mitigation Grant – Available for residents to fund projects at properties that reduce natural disaster risks. NC Emergency Management staff will be at Asheville Mall this week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for assistance.

FEMA Assistance & Deadlines

• FEMA Individual Assistance deadline extended to Jan. 7, 2025. Register at disasterassistance.gov or call 800-621-3362.

• Disaster Recovery Centers:

• Asheville Mall: 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.

• Swannanoa Fire Rescue (510 Bee Tree Rd): Until Nov. 14, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.

• Buncombe County Sports Park (58 Apac Dr): Nov. 15-18, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

• Asheville Humane Society offers pet food and supply distributions:

Road Safety Reminder

• Respect barricades and road closures—never drive around them.

• Treat red light outages as four-way stops, and allow extra travel time due to GPS inaccuracies.

• Be patient with debris trucks and utility crews as they work to restore safety.
