Mitchell County Roadside Debris Cleanup:
Work is now underway for clearing debris along state-maintained roads throughout Mitchell County. To help things run smoothly, the county is requesting that you sort debris into these five categories: 1) Electronics 2) Large Appliances 3) Hazardous Waste 4) Vegetative Debris 5) Construction Debris
Place all debris on the public right-of-way, up to 20-25 feet from the road’s white line. Please avoid blocking roads or drainage, and note that mixed debris or improper placement may cause delays or result in the debris not being picked up. Household garbage will not be collected.
Madison County ROAR WNC Location Closed Until 11/1/24:
The Rural Organizing and Resilience (ROAR) WNC-Marshall Mutual Aid Hub is closed from 10/28-10/31. It will reopen on 11/1 at the new address below:

Yancey County Community Meeting Tonight:
There will be a community meeting tonight to discuss recovery efforts and share information about schools, FEMA, DOT, and power restoration updates. The meeting will take place at the following location and time:
